All of my reels are spooled with weight-forward, bass-taper floating line except for the 4/5-weight, which is spooled with Snowbee’s Thistledown line, a much thinner line that contributes to minimal line disturbance

I opt to use the less minty ones first, rounding the spools' lips, drilling my standard 0.8mm line-keeper hole in the rim, give them a gentle tidy with some wire wool - the skirt of the spools have tiny nicks and scratches that bore smoothing, and one of said has a patch of corrosion on the inside surface
